Freddie is a 5-year-old male beagle who served as a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agriculture detector dog at Washington Dulles International Airport. On June 25, 2025, Freddie was performing his routine duties when he detected prohibited agriculture products in a traveler's luggage.
While Freddie's handler was questioning the suspect, the individual violently kicked Freddie with sufficient force to lift the 25-pound beagle off the ground. This malicious attack on a defenseless K9 officer performing his duties shocked the nation and led to federal charges.
Thanks to Freddie's alert, CBP agriculture specialists discovered 116 pounds of prohibited agriculture products, including beef meat, rice, vegetables, seeds, and herbs that could have threatened America's vital agricultural industries.
